The Classic Candid design with black stained-ash legs and a contrasting smoky-toned seat and back. This is the intended outcome of our experiment with open-flame charring. One of the three versions of Candid available as Note Editions, each one representing a different stage in the process of shou shugi ban.

Candid is a compact wooden chair designed by us. Appearing light and bold at the same time, Zilio A&C’s craftsmanship and expertise were integral to realising the structural challenges of this elegant piece of seating. A versatile, materially honest chair for various environments, from restaurants to the home.
